19 February 1900 Alexander Labas was born in Smolensk.
1907 First drawing classes taken at a private studio of V. Mushketov.
1910 The family moved to Riga.
1912 The family moved to Moscow. Labas enrolled at the Imperial Stroganov Industrial Art School, where he studied under D. Shcherbinovsky, F. Fedorovsky and S. Noakowski.
1915 Studies at Fedor Rerberg's studio
1916 Classes at Ilya Mashkov's studio
1917 Studies under Peter Konchalovsky at the State Artistic Workshops
1919 Labas volunteered for the front, where he served as an artist in the 3rd Army of the Eastern Front.
1921 Labas taught at the State Art Studios of Yekaterinburg.
1922 He continued his education at the VKhUTEMAS.
1924 Labas vacationed in Sochi, where he produced the Sochi series. On Vladimir Favorsky's invitation Labas taught painting and color studies at the VKhUTEMAS. He was involved in the foundation of the Society of Easel Painters (OST). He did stage design for the Delo and Krechinsky's Wedding productions at the Komisarjevskaya Theater.
The 1920s-1930s Labas actively contributed to art exhibitions in Russia and abroad.

1935 Labas met in the Crimea Leoni Neumann, a German artist who had graduated from the Bauhaus and who was to become his wife. Labas made A City of the Future and A Flight to the Moon panels for the Moscow House of Young pioneers.
1935 – 1936 Work on The Crimea. Odessa-Batumi watercolor series
1937 The artist's brother, A.A. Labas, fell victim to purges and was executed. Labas visited Lake Baikal and did the Baikal. Amur series. He produced the Soviet Aviation panel for the Soviet pavilion at the Paris World Fair
1939 Labas did the Artek Young Pioneer Camp panel for the New York World's Fair
1938 – 1939 Labas produced dioramas of Soviet republics for the Constitution Hall of the Main Pavilion of Moscow's All-Union Agricultural Exhibition.
1941 Labas made a panorama for Mikhail Lermontov's centenary exhibition in Tarkhany. When Nazi planes raided Moscow, Labas kept a lookout on the roof at 21 Myasnitskaya Street. The Wartime Moscow and Moscow Region watercolor series started
1941- 1942 Labas evacuated to Tashkent, where the Tashkent series was made.
1944 – 1945 Work on the Stalingrad Reborn panel for the All-Union Construction Exhibition in Moscow
1954 – 1958 Labas vacationed in Koktebel, the Crimea, and did the Koktebel series.
The 1960s Work on the Tallinn, Yalta and Khotkovo-Abramtsevo series 1
966 Labas contributed to an exhibition of Smolensk artists and started work on the Smolensk and Recollecting Smolensk series. He took part in a group show of works by M.N. Akselrod, M.K. Gorshman, A.A. Labas, A.I. Teneta and G.A. Shults
